Global warming has started to hit Jupiter, as Transterrestrial points out, it’s Bush’s fault for not signing Kyoto (and I suppose, convincing Congress to ratify it). Texas Rainmaker points out that signing the Montreal agreement during the Clinton era to fix the Ozone layer is a leading cause of why our (the developed world’s) CO2 outputs have risen so much.

Little known fact: the majority of the Earth’s weather is controlled by the Sun, which just went an especially violent peak of it’s activity in it’s ~11 year cycle.

Our environmental footprint is certainly an issue we should consider, but any number of natural processes completely outclass anything we could ever doto change this planet. If we focus on the incremental and progressive changes our economy can give us, we’ll get there in the end (and even faster in the long run than if we restrict our economy). The planet will manage fine enough meanwhile.
