Amnesty and No Fence May 18, 2007

All over the right side of the blogosphere is talk of the immigration bill sneaking through the Senate which won’t even be publicly viewable until it’s passed. There’s a lot of other dirty details about it too. It makes a special type of visa — Z class, which allows the illegal immigrants currently in the country to have citizenship and stay here forever, after only paying a simple fee — no other immigration process. It also cuts the amount of fence that will be built along the southern border in half — something which definitely peeves Bill Frist, as it should, since he spent a lot of effort getting that bill passed. When will politicians understand that border security is a separate and equally important issue from immigration? How many more Fort Dix scenarios do we need to play out?

While I think the temporary working visa thing could definitely be a good idea if implemented properly, those two details, and the method with which this bill is trying to be slipped through our system, definitely make this bill a bad thing. Hugh Hewitt has the details about what you can do to stop it.

They don’t REALLY want the fence to keep hispanics out. They want the fence to keep Americans from fleeing when they learn the truth about WHAT is running our governments. Take it to the bank.

First of all, it’s not about Hispanics vs Caucasians. Having a secure border stops all sorts of criminal behavior, from arms and drug smuggling, to potential terrorism.

Second, our government is run for the people, and by the people.

Third, if any of that were true, they would be increasing the fence, not decreasing it.
