New Hampshire Analysis January 10, 2008

It’s just one state, but there’s still some interesting ramifications for the full election. Clinton managed to take the lead after her little crying incident (which may or may not have been a plant, and staged, just like so many of the other questions for her), which keeps her in the race – a NH loss would have really given Obama momentum. Don’t worry, though, Obama’s promised he won’t be a crybaby himself. Clinton is probably the worst candidate with a serious chance of winning, in my opinion. She’s corrupt as anything, and the media loves her. Any other candidate, especially a republican, wouldn’t hear the end of it if they had even a whiff of the scandals she does.
As far as the Republican side, the real ramifications that I see from NH is that Romney’s in trouble, and Ron Paul’s finally out. Ron Paul was supposed to take the bulk of his momentum from NH, and fortunately didn’t. Romney put a large portion of his efforts into Iowa and NH, and has lost both states. Any future states, he’ll have to compete with Guliani, as well as Huckabee and McCain. The Republican race has certainly become interesting, and the competition is really leading to all of the issues being discussed.
The democrats, of course, are ignoring the success of Iraq (and still calling for what would be a disastrous pullout), and almost any mention of Islamic terrorism. Hillary says that Al Qaeda would prefer Obama over her, but neglects to mention that Al Qaeda would prefer any of the Democratic candidates over Republicans – except Ron Paul.
