Food Silliness May 22, 2008

CNN has a scare piece on the rising price of food. While they do mention the current ethanol subsidies that are diverting corn crops from food production, they neglect to mention the tariffs on foreign agriculture and subsidies on our own that artificially adjusts all of the prices of our food.
Speaking of which, the good news of the day is that the food bill that’s absolutely disgusting with government pork has to be re-passed because of procedural mistakes by the Democrats. Of course, that still doesn’t justify that the bill passed in the first place, which is hard to justify for any reason.

It’s good to see somebody else realizes that ethanol isn’t the devil. My Dad works for a prominent ethanol company and he’s told me stories of ethanol haters pulling arguments like that.
Cool beans bro
Heh. I don’t hate ethanol, but I am against subsidies, which are what make corn ethanol viable. Corn ethanol primarily seems to exist as a way for politicians to grab Iowa votes.
Most other forms of ethanol I am quite in favor of.
