Unhinged, Deranged, And Sexist September 3, 2008

The left is getting more and more vicious in their attacks on Sarah Palin, to the point that they’re even alienating their own base. The smears are perpetrated by every direction of the left: bloggers, the media, the Democratic party, and even Obama’s camp, although Obama’s camp is avoiding smearing Palin’s family. Not so from the bloggers or the media, which is revealing blatant sexism (and blatant bias) in the questions it is asking about Palin, and going after every aspect of her family, even to the point of trying to smear her daughter’s boyfriend.

Why is the left, which constantly claims to be the party of tolerance, behaving so atrociously? They feel deeply threatened, to the point of being unhinged. By their own words, they perceive the right as so bad that they are willing to become monsters themselves to prevent a political loss.

I percieve a variety of tragedies here. One is that a variety of people who are not campaigning are having their lives trashed by the media (which doesn’t investigate characters on the left who do campaign, such as Obama, Michelle, or Edwards). The second is that America is clearly poorly served by our media, it is blatantly rooting for the left, and that is not a good thing, even, in the end, for the left. The third, and biggest tragedy, is that the emotional reasoning, and even religious devotion (I suppose I could also link all the photos of the Obamessiah here), of the left prevents them from being a serious opposition party, with mature solutions that are debated through logic, willing to accede on weak points and flaws – to the detriment of the entire country (and since we’re such a superpower, the world).

We’ve got seperation of church and state, but how do we take the religion out of government when government is the religion (see leftist governing philosophies of socialism, communism, and fascism)?

Sean Hannity said this is the year journalism died, and I shudder to think so, but he has a valid point. They had been ignoring McCain so much earlier, sending a ton of people with Obama on his foreign policy field trip (though Gibson and Couric and others did ask him tough questions), and now this is just way over the line. The contrast between how rational blogs have been handling Palin and how much of the media has been handling her illustrates one reason the mainstream media is in such a mess right now.
