More Democrat Energy Opposition September 23, 2008

The Democrats are once again demonstrating that they are against any method that increases our energy resources, especially forms that seem increasingly boundless.
Today we see Biden explain that he’s against clean coal technology. America has the largest supply of coal in the world. If you want energy independence (and who doesnt?) this would certainly be one of the technologies to invest in.
Meanwhile, Congress continues to block drilling off our coasts, and it also is trying to stop U.S. companies from signing oil deals with Iraq, so the Iraqis are going with Chinese companies. Nothing like being competitive. Thank you, Democrats!
Ok, so the Republicans have their own special interests they support, but the Democrats seem to be wedded to the flaky, Gaia-inspired environmental wackos who believe we should all become one with nature and produce energy only from the sun, the wind, and maybe wave action. I’m not sure if they realize we would have to cover the entire Southwest with solar collectors and have a battery the size of New Jersey to replace all the electricity generated by coal-fired power plants. (only a slight exaggeration)
They also seem to completely fail to realize that all the energy that we fail to bring up ourselves we’re inevitably just buying from other countries, many of which don’t have nearly the environmental concerns, or the availability or resources and infrastructure, to maintain as light a footprint as we’re able to.
