Bailout Plan Collapsing? September 26, 2008

Yesterday’s meeting apparently got sidetracked into a debate over which plan to implement. Now it looks like things are somewhat deadlocked. The Democrats are trying to blame McCain and the Republicans, but that seems pretty dishonest: Pelosi could pass the bill anytime she wanted, it’s just that if it makes things worse, she’ll be the one blamed.
Glenn Reynolds, meanwhile, has a roundup of bailout related links. He’s unsure of the whole idea. So am I, frankly.
It’s telling that smaller banks are doing fine, even thriving.
