Gordon Chang thinks so. I think he’s right that more talking won’t do the trick, but I don’t think we have to rely on military force. The real solution to North Korea lies with China, since China’s support is all that keeps the regime alive. With this latest collapse of the situation with North Korea, we shouldn’t bother trying to work out a new deal. Instead, we should work together with South Korea and Japan (and Russia, I guess) to convince China to just let the regime collapse, and have a plan for what to do when it finally does so.
