Also The FairTax

Over at the Ayn Rand Center a talk about the causes of our financial troubles, and possible solutions.

I would point out that the FairTax meets many of the tax suggestions he has.

Regardless, these plans are pretty much the exact opposite of what we should be doing.

Quick, when no one is looking! Over at Gateway and Anchoress.

I’m glad I’m not in the healthcare industry.

As his wife seems to have tax issues.

They just don’t seem to think that the rules they enact should apply to themselves, and yet never seem to realize that we don’t like those rules either.

Anne and I are looking into purchasing a vehicle. Obviously, Massachusetts’ sales tax of 5% is a hefty amount to pay on something as expensive as a car tends to be. However, if you buy a vehicle outside of the Commonwealth’s jurisdiction, when you register the vehicle they charge you a 5% sales tax regardless. They’re charging you a sales tax on a sale that took place outside of the state. What’s the obvious lesson? Don’t live in Massachusetts so you don’t have to register your vehicle there.

Your Latest Massachusetts Outrages

Here, here, and here.

Charles Stross seems to be revising his predictions for humanity through the next century sharply downward. I think his politics are clouding his judgement. View full article »

I Think ^(Link) Therefor I Err is musing about why the Democrats are still enacting so many major changes through backdoor processes, when they already have such legislative control.

I have a theory why: the agenda is too radical for most self-identified Democrats. Take a look at the survey data from American Solutions. While Republicans by no means support every item on the list, the Democratic politicians in power (and the nutroots) are adamantly opposed to it. As Howard Stern’s video of Harlem voters showed, many self identified Democrats have no idea what the politicians they support are doing, and many would likely switch parties if they ever found out. The Democrats rely on their voters being naive and uninformed, and thus have to bury or disguise as many of their legislative items as possible. And the media fully helps them, every step of the way.

The Status Of E-Ink

An interview with the co-founder. It’s a cool technology, and I’m glad to see it becoming more popular, but it’s clearly still in it’s infancy. The color in 2011 should be exciting.

Or so say the Democrats, who are continuing to block development of shale oil, which we have more of than the entire middle east’s oil reserves.

That would also be why they oppose offshore drilling, and nuclear energy. Because the last thing we need is to actually be developing our own energy, and not be paying regimes around the world for our own power.

Pretty much defines the modern left, doesn’t it?

Read this. What factors about our national situation are different from the very same factors and liberal policies that are causing California to fail? Especially the situation with businesses seeking friendlier tax and regulation climates.

So says the DHS secretary about the arrest of 28 illegal immigrants, caught from investigation for gang criminal activity.

Do I even need to add anything else?

But teacher’s unions are. So which do you think the Democrats work towards bettering?

Remember all of the liberal and media outrage over Palin’s wardrobe? So how come you haven’t heard about Michelle Obama’s?

Ah, Good Old Massachusetts

Wrongfully charge us to drive our roads (and then don’t return the money), and release killers onto our streets, with no punishment. And this is how liberals want our whole country to run!

New Scientist has the details.

The Freedom To Swear Lives On

As a judge throws the case out.

At least if you go by what they actually successfully accomplish.

Michelle Malkin has found a metaphor for our 12 year low. Markets are diving, and every time the Democrats open their mouth and do more, they just get worse. That’s probably because everything the Democrats are doing isn’t about fixing America’s problems, but instead rewarding special interests, greasing wheels, proving Reagan wrong, and seizing political power. Obama’s promising (like his no earmark promise!) to pay it all back (what he means is that you’ll pay it back), but the spending spree the Democrats have been on dwarfs anything we’ve ever seen before – which is why there’s one area of the country that’s doing just fine.

Meanwhile, the rest of us will suffer when the bills come due for all of the small political constituents (and illegal immigrants) that the Democrats are subsidizing for votes on your behalf.

Hmm, these politics have already failed our country in places. Aren’t you glad that they’re being elevated to the national level? The Democrats want to rule in Hell, and are entirely willing (and currently able) to ruin the country for political gain.

I agree with reader sentiment here. It’s far too late for the media to complain about Obama’s positions. They gave him no vetting whatsoever on the campaign trail, and now they need to live with it.

They also owe the entire country an apology, and completely deserve the death their industry is suffering due to the internet.
