Just because the bill has passed the House and been signed by Obama doesn’t mean it’s done yet – although that was definitely bad news.

The senate still has to verify that everything in it was budget related, and if they make any changes it goes back to the House. This means that there’s room for all sorts of fun.

As much as I want Barbara Boxer out of Congress, I don’t think I want these ties anywhere near D.C.

OF course, with Obama in the White House, the whole thing is kind of moot. He’s got just as many dubious associations.

This economy is going nowhere good.

That’s all it takes.

Update: And again.

Fusion Roundup

Over at cosmic log.

Still Pushing Junk Science?

Why is Wired running a whole series of articles on geo-engineering to protect us from climate change?

Wired, say it together with me: “Climate change is dead. Global warming is dead.” They were hoaxes by scientists and politicians trying to grab attention, money, and power in a variety of ways and for a variety of reasons. The sooner you get that through your heads, the sooner you’ll stop looking like idiots.

Bad government, and bad politicians. Of course the solution must, as always with all the problem spots in our country (all coincidently run by Democrats for years), and with all the failing programs around our country championed by liberals and Democrats (like health care is about to become): more spending and government control, and a further push of government into society.

The Reality Of Obamacare

It’s a tax. Plain and simple.

Quite a few states, including Florida, are now mounting suit.

As Boortz points out,

Never in the history of the United States has the Congress ever passed a law which required any citizen to enter into a contract with another citizen or a private business against their will …… Never, that is, until now. How’s that for change?

Volokh explains that the legal reasoning behind this is based on an assumption that the power to tax is infinite. One more reason to overhaul taxes in this country – and this time make sure the limits are noted to the highest levels.

Of course, guess who’s explicitly mentioned as being immune to these mandated purchases? And of course those aren’t the only freedoms lost.

Provoking Israel

Remember way back in the election, when I and so many others warned that Obama was so anti-Israel he was pretty much an outright antisemite?

It should be no surprise that it shows in recent events. The whole Biden in Israel thing, have you taken a close look at what actually occurred? And then there’s the fact that Obama won’t pose for photos with Netanyahu. Once again we’re seeing Obama engaged in petty political snubbing that reveals not only rotten core values, but just how much of a child he actually is.

Which just tells you again that he didn’t really care about abortion. If he knows it’s a worthless promise, he didn’t switch because he trusted it.

As evidenced by their recent fish pedicures.

This may seem like a silly issue, but it illustrates the broader point of what happens when industry and government get put together at all.

And keep in mind that political action is entirely the means by which unions attempt to negotiate.

Which isn’t censored. Volokh thinks the stand for free speech is the right thing to do. So do I.

ACORN Folding?

That’s what the headlines say. But an awful lot of it seems to just be splitting off into smaller, less well-known groups

Apparently in Chicago, there’s a semi-secret process for the politically connected to get their children sent to the schools they want them to go to.

Nice.

Ugh. And I won’t be surprised when Democrats try to seize 401(k) plans in response.

That is how much Pelosi has cost U.S. Taxpayers.

Free Speech? Not So Much

Ann Coulter just received a warning from Canada for a speech she hasn’t even given yet.

I doubt there’s anything she would say that lefties wouldn’t consider “hate speech” – even if she stated only entirely factual statistics. It’s how they shut down their opponents.
