Well, maybe. We’re certainly not at the point we were with the Titanic, where the lifeboats went out mostly empty because the guys weren’t getting on them until they were sure all the women and children were taken care of. But on the other hand, I can tell you from an anecdotal perspective that the rudest, pushiest line my wife and I ever encountered was in Italy – and our entire time in that country we felt that we had to be on guard in every line or the locals would push their way to the front using every excuse possible.
I’m not sure if you would see more chivalrous behavior on an American or British cruise ship that’s sinking, but the behavior that people are observing on the Italian cruise ship corresponds with the worst in pushiness that I’ve ever seen, also in Italy.
