Most of my leftist friends seem to be reducing the Trump win to how much the country is full of hate – which in my mind is a simplistic vilification of their political opponents, of the kind we’ve seen so much of the past couple years: You’re either with us or you’re a bigot.

I think these two articles do a fantastic job of explaining why those notions are false. And I encourage all of my friends on the left to try and stop explaining absolutely everything your political opponents do as “hate”. Most of it definitely isn’t, and when you do so you’re honestly the ones being hateful.
